Boston Events in January: Local Things to Do, Eat & Experience
Boston in January might be cold, but the event calendar is anything but. This month brings cozy markets and comedy nights, wellness resets and all-you-can-eat tacos (yes, really) - these are the kind of events we'd text our friends about and actually show up to.
We've organized everything by vibe so you can plan your month the way we do - intuitively, and always with snacks involved.
Create, Reflect & Reset
January 5th-9th, 2026
Release Well-Being Center
This isn’t just a free class situation - it’s a full sample of what modern wellness can feel like. During Release Well-Being’s January Open House, you can enjoy any class plus an hour of bliss exploring their recovery and spa spaces. You’ll also be entered into their raffle for a FREE three-month Lifestyle Membership, giving you full access to classes, Bliss amenities, and everything that makes Release a true sanctuary for body and soul.
Think Himalayan Salt Room, eucalyptus steam room, sun sauna, cold plunges, and mineral spa tubs. Move, unwind, and reset your nervous system for the year ahead.
January 11th, 2026 • 2:30-5pm
Short Path Distillery, Barrelhouse at Short Path
A calming, beginner-friendly creative night where you’ll paint your own set of ceramic mandala coasters using premium acrylics and dotting tools.
Hosted by Kesha, who’s all about helping people reconnect with their creative side, this is less “art class” and more “exhale and make something beautiful.” Bonus points for the distillery setting - creativity hits different with a cocktail nearby.
January 12th, 2026 • 6:30-8:30pm
The Broadway, South Boston
If you’re the kind of person who likes starting the year with intention (but without the pressure), this one’s for you. Thoughts With H is hosting a guided vision board night that’s equal parts reflective and social.
Expect prompts to help you clarify what you want from the year, plus the energy that makes goal-setting feel exciting instead of overwhelming. Food and drinks are available all night, which we consider essential. Get your tickets here!
January 23rd, 2026 • 6-8pm
Long Live Roxby Taproom
This workshop blends tarot, astrology, and painting in the most approachable way possible. Led by Art and Soul Clinic with guest artist and astrologer Samantha Kelly, you’ll learn the basics of tarot and astrology while painting a magically inspired stained glass candle holder.
It’s casual, welcoming, and designed for curiosity - no prior knowledge required, just vibes.
Tickets are sold on a sliding scale, so pay what you can. Make sure to secure your spot now!
Comedy, Books & Community
January 16th, 2026 • 6:30pm onwards
The Rozzie Square Theatre
Hosted by Boston-based stand-up comic Nora Panahi, this night is about laughing together while supporting queer comedians, local businesses, and the broader LGBTQIA+ community.
Expect great comedy, good mingling energy, and that special feeling you get when a night out also supports something meaningful.
January 11th, 2026 • 10:30am
All She Wrote Books
This month’s pick is A Wedding by Chencia C. Higgins, and the vibes are cozy in the best way. Coffee and pastries are provided by Michette, and the space is made for thoughtful conversation and connection.
Whether you’ve finished the book or are just excited to talk queer romance with other readers, you’ll feel right at home.
Music, Markets & Celebrations
January 17th, 2026 • 8-11pm
Boston Ale House
Live acoustic music at your neighborhood sports bar hits different.
Timothy Brown brings a laid-back solo set that’s perfect for easing into the weekend, grabbing a drink, and actually hearing live music without needing a whole plan.
January 31st, 2026 • 4-9pm
23 Leonard St
Boston Little Saigon is hosting its first-ever Winter Têt Market, trotting into the year of the horse with full cozy-chaotic energy (the good kind). Expect a flea market with preloved treasures, local makers and crafts, food and drinks, artists, and DJs.
It’s all about that pre-Têt buzz - layered up, wandering, and celebrating community.
Food & Drink Worth Leaving The House For
All of January, 2026 • Daily from 11:30am until close
El Barco Back Bay
$25. Unlimited tacos. All January. Come hungry, leave victorious. This is the kind of winter deal we fully support - simple, joyful, and best enjoyed with friends who won’t judge you for going back for “just one more.”
January 9th, 2026 • 4-8pm
Jamies Ice Cream Co
Jamie’s Ice Cream Co is celebrating one year in the Cambridge community with $1 scoops (yes, $1) and special birthday treats available for purchase.
It’s a sweet way to support a small business that’s clearly doing something right - and a reminder that January deserves a little celebration too.
January doesn’t have to be a waiting room for spring. Boston’s showing up with creativity, care, and plenty of reasons to leave the house - and we’re here for all of it.
